IMBER/LOICZ Continental Margins Open Science Conference
Impacts of global, local and human forcings on biogeochemical cycles and ecosystems.
September 17-21, 2007 Shanghai (P.R. China)
Dear LOICZ/IMBER Colleagues,
We would like to bring to your attention the next IMBER/LOICZ Continental Margins Open Science Conference that will be held on, September 17 - 21, 2007 in Shanghai (P.R. China). This meeting is co-convened by Nancy Rabalais ( nrabalais@lumcon.edu) and Jack Middelburg ( j.middelburg@nioo.knaw.nl). The abstract submission onine is open until June 15th and registration will be accepted until Septemeber17th 2007. We welcome your participation to this conference.
The goal of the conference is to estimate the relative importance of the changing forcings - global, local, and human - and determine how changes in shelf ecosystems can be attributed to the respective forcings.
The conference will be organized around eight themes including
1. Ocean-Shelf Biogeochemical Exchanges
2. Continental Shelf Biogeochemistry and Couplings with Benthic Systems
3. Continental Shelf Carbon in a High CO2 World
4. Continental Shelf Ecosystems from High to Low Latitudes
5. Integrated Observations and Modeling: Visions and Reality
6. Eutrophication and Oligotrophication in Coastal Systems
7. Low Oxygen on Continental Shelves
8. Sustainable Use of Continental Shelf Resources
